  1. Haven’t read the book; I’m just still jonesin’ for a 12 Monkeys sequel that’ll never come. And to Terry Gilliam: Don’t make it “13 Monkeys”. Please don’t.

  2. I thought it was gonna be Based on the book it’s BASED IN SHIT !

  3. The creator of the zombies this movies is based on made them slow. That’s the complaint here.

  4. Zombieland was a comedy movie that was not based on a book portraying slow-moving zombies. Your argument is invalid.

    Agreement on all points.
Although…it’s occurred to me that Pitt might be the “author” that has put the various accounts together, that were “too intimate” for the report (?) that was made to the UN after the fact…this is just a thought, maybe Pitt is that guy, with word of this movie perhaps becoming a trilogy we might see some form of the book. Except of course with Hussein Bolt playing the zombies.

I dont think Lucas or the HUGE fan base will let them fuck it up. I think it will be alright. there will be alot of eyes watching the creation of this movie

Zombies can be fast. Ever seen zombie land?

  8. That’d be an okay idea except where were the super athletic zombies in the book? And why is Brad Pitt the ‘right man for the job’–presumably the guy who can stop the zombie apocalypse? Destroys the concept entirely.

I see some elements of the book in the trailer, I’m thinking that bit with the wall with piles of zombies, the little flotilla of boats with refugees and that scene with the bald guy kneeling down in dispair (I’m thinking the Indian story when they blow the mountain path).
I’d love for them to have tried a (forgive me for saying) love actually style of story telling, picking the “best” stories and focusing on them, jumping from one story to the next. Hope it’s great like the book is.

Reason people are bitching is because we have waited for a long time for the book to be made into a movie and when its here look at what they did to it. It is like the directors didnt even know there was a book and have never read it before.

  13. jonpaulsquarter

I will not go see this. I loved the book and the author should have put his foot down and not allowed this to happen to his awesome book.

  14. inevitable

  15. disgusting simply disgusting

  16. Exactly. Have your cliche zombie movie, but don’t desecrate the actual source material by putting its name on here.

  17. BurritoLover96

If they just change the title to something else then nobody would be bitching so far

  18. no idea what the spoliers meant lol, i’ll give it a read though

1st off, zombies are fictional n can be any way the creator wants them to be. Jus cuz when zombies 1st came out they were staggering and slow, doesnt mean they cant be approached differently when portrayed. Also there are whats known as in film-making-circles, stage-1 zombies, which havent been dead long. As they decompose they become slower… I am a stage-1 zombie in a film presently being shot…we run like nuts and get what we want lol.

  20. I’m planning on majoring in English and Film. If I ever get the opportunity, I’m making it my life goal to try and make a miniseries shot documentary style with creative input from the author himself. Maybe I’ll even try and get an actual documentarian to help me. *shrug* maybe this is just fangirl dreaming.

  21. You must, I beg of you. It’s incredibly good. It focuses on socio-politcal conflict in the time of the apocalypse and is a very thougt-provoking look at humanity in times of terror. One of my favorite key parts is the initiation of theSPOILER ALERT utilitarian ‘Redeker Plan’ in South Africa. and the story of the otaku boy he became a protege of this blind warrior monk dude. And the North Korea thing gave me chills.

  22. The Harry Potter franchise stayed pretty true to the book and it’s one of the highest making films of all time. The Shawshank Redemption was pretty true to the book, and that was widely acclaimed. Why can’t they do that with this movie? The point is that this movie changed the entire plot and just slapped the name on it, which is incredibly disrespecful to fans and the author.

  23. It’s one thing to have small differences in a film to fit the format. It’s another thing entirely to buy the rights to the book, only to completely throw out the entire plot and purpose of the book, while slapping the book name on it. If they wanted to make a movie like this, fine. But don’t basically tell loyal fans of the book and the author to fuck off. Brook’s put a lot of work and thought into it and they made into another cliche blockbuster. It’s pathetic.

Youve obviously never seen Omega Man……

No one has done a movie just like the book, but hey we can enjoy these books and films on their own separate merits.
    😀
